Back pain
Most back pain comes from the muscles, ligaments and joints of the spine rather than anything serious. Common causes include strain from lifting or twisting, poor posture, long hours of sitting, and wear in the discs and joints as we age. It can be a dull ache or a sharp pain, and it often comes with muscle spasm that makes moving harder. Our therapists combine therapies, including laser therapy to ease pain and restore movement. Read what some of our clients have to say.
Sciatica
Sciatica isn't a condition in itself but a description of pain along the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back through the buttock and down the back of each leg. It happens when that nerve is compressed or irritated, most often by a herniated disc, narrowing in the spine, or a tight piriformis muscle in the buttock. The pain can be a deep ache or sharp and burning, often with numbness or tingling, and usually affects one side. In our clinics we have treated many people with sciatica. Read about some of their experiences below.
Herniated disc
The discs between your vertebrae have a tough outer ring and a softer, gel-like centre. A herniated, or "slipped", disc is when part of that centre pushes through a weak spot in the ring. If it presses on a nearby nerve, it can cause pain, numbness or weakness down an arm or leg, as well as back or neck pain. Many herniated discs improve with time and conservative care. Treatments at our clinics help ease pain and muscle tension along the way. Read their experiences below.
Degenerative disc disease
Despite the name, degenerative disc disease isn't really a disease. It describes the normal wear of the discs between the vertebrae, which lose water and height as we age. For some people that wear causes no problems; for others it leads to ongoing back or neck pain, stiffness, and sometimes pain spreading into an arm or leg if a nerve is irritated. Laser Health Solutions can help ease pain and keep the spine moving. Read about our clients' experiences below.
