About Andrew
I'm the owner and administrator of Laser Health Solutions in Calgary, and you'll often find me at the reception desk. I've been part of this clinic since it opened in 2004.
How I got here
I never planned this career. I started in 1998 as a cashier at a coffee shop owned by Blaine Skleryk, and over the years I worked my way up to managing his businesses. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Calgary in 2000 along the way.
In 2004, Blaine, his brother Dr. Rob Skleryk, and Suzanne Biller started Laser Health Solutions. I helped manage Blaine's cafés and fast food locations so he could commit fully to the clinic. When he sold the last one sold in 2005, I joined the clinic full time to handle administration, technical support, and reception. Suzanne, who has since retired, was a fantastic mentor. She guided me from bookkeeper in the back office to the first person new patients meet at the front door.
In 2023, my partners Anoop Nair, Sunder Palaniyandi, and I bought the Calgary clinic. I also built the website you're reading now.
At the front desk
I manage and operate the clinic, and I still work reception to help new and returning patients. Those few minutes before an appointment are my favourite part of the job. I get to hear people's stories, and I've met people from all walks of life: parents juggling several kids, veterans, teenagers thinking about their futures.
After more than twenty years here, I've also seen families grow with us. A teenage dancer who came in with an ankle injury in 2006 now brings their ten-year-old in. I love that people trust us with their families.
If you're unsure about a first visit, call or stop by and ask me anything. We'd like the chance to help more people, and there's nothing better than seeing someone bring a loved one in too. You can also request an appointment online.
Outside the clinic
I have too many hobbies and not enough time or money for them all. Woodworking, photography, home computer networking, and crafts are my main ones. I recently bought a laser for crafting at home. If you visit the Calgary clinic, look around the office. You'll find some of my trinkets and photos, because I've run out of room at home to keep them.
